Opus bikes participated in their first major presence in the U.S industry during the Interbike show in Las Vegas, Nevada from September 19-21, 2012. Considered North America’s largest gathering of the bicycle industry, Opus arrived on scene with over 60 of their road, mountain bike, urban and kids bicycles.
Opus, who has been operating in the Canadian market for well over ten years, offering almost 90 models of bicycles, was very well received in the U.S. market.
According to Chris Dimmick, Director of International Sales, “The response we received from U.S. dealers was overwhelmingly positive and confirmed what we felt going into the show, which was that the quality and depth of model offerings in all categories would be recognized and appreciated by the IBD’s in attendance. Our diverse and large offerings in both the urban and children’s categories were particularly well received.”

Following the success of Interbike, Opus is pleased to announce the opening of its first three U.S. retailer partners. Opus is proud to have Bicycle Roots (Brooklyn, New York), The Daily Rider (Washington, D.C) and On Performance Labs (Tampa, Florida) join their team of retailers who will be bringing the Opus bike collection to cycling enthusiasts in the United States.
Chris Dimmick notes, “We could not be happier to begin our journey into the U.S. market with these three very unique and passionate bicycle retailers.
In their own way, each shop brings an exciting and fresh approach to the bicycle retail experience, provides outstanding customer service, and is committed to serving their local community. The diversity represented in these three IBD reflects the depth and quality of the Opus line. We sincerely believe that Opus can offer something for any bicycle shop in the U.S. We are honored that they have chosen Opus bikes and look forward to being active partners in the promotion and success of each other’s brand.”
According to Loren Copsey, The Daily Rider, “We're glad to be the shop in D.C. to introduce the brand. Our shop is the first in a rapidly growing neighborhood, which needed the resource of a bike shop. We liked the blend of style and utility that Opus' urban line has. We also like the wide variety of bicycles that we can get our hands on. Our neighborhood has experienced a baby boom that means kid's bikes are going to soon be in demand.”
Over the coming months, Opus will continue to work with select U.S bicycle retailers to bring the Opus line of road, mountain, urban and kids bicycles to the United States market.
